INTRODUCTION


Priyanka Chopra is a very well known name in the Indian film industry. Not only in Indian but around the world she is an inspiring figure. With her hard work in acting, singing and her spectrum of philanthropic activities, she has emerged as one of the well known names in the Indian film industry. She is born to physician parents and is born in Jamshedpur which is a small town in the Indian state of Jharkhand. She had to move to different places to complete her school because of her parent's job. And, at the age of 13 years, her parents sent her to USA for studies, where she also took up some volunteering work in singing and dancing apart from taking up her formal studies. At that time, she desired to become a psychologist or an engineer instead of becoming an artist.

After returning to India, on her mother's insistence she took part in the Femina Miss India contents and by the grace of God she was selected as the Miss World representing India. She was crowned Miss World 2000 in the Pageant. And, thereafter her journey as in the film industry began where she later on made a big name for herself. She began her career with Tamil film named 'Thamizan' and then she made her debut in the Bollywood as a second lead in the movie Andaaz. And, she was also awarded Filmfare Award for her role in Andaaz and that gave her a great start getting her great movies like Krrish, Aitraaz, Fashion, 7 Khoon Maaf, Barfi and many more. By giving great performance in these challenging roles she has been awarded with a number of titles and had also achieved recognition as an International actress, singer and a performer.

Early Life & Childhood


Her closed ones call her Piggy Chops with love! She was born on 18th of July 1982 in the state of Jharkhand in Jamshedpur. She is the daughter of Madhu Chopra and Ashok Chopra who were both physician in the Indian army. Her brother's name is Sidhharth Chopra who is younger to Priyanka. Because of the frequent transfers of her father (being in army) she had to move to different places for her studies and she had her childhood spent in Bareilly, Delhi, Ladakh and Pune. She was admitted to several schools including St. Maria Goretti College, Bareilly and La Martiniere Girls' School, Lucknow.

And, there after she was sent to USA to complete her higher education, at the age of 13. In USA, she lived at her aunt's place and studied in schools located in Newton, Massachusetts, Iowa and New York. And, while in USA, she also got training in classical music, Kathak dance, choral singing and Western music. And, then she returned to India to complete her higher education from the Army school. And, later she also won 'May Queen' beauty pageant organized by the local club.

Priyanka Chopra's Career


It all started when the bold & beautiful piggy Chops participated in the Femina Miss India 2000 content and there she won the Femina Miss India World title. She then made her debut in cinema with the Tamil film named 'Thamizhan' in 2002. Later on she started off in Bollywood movie as a second lead in movie named 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy'. Later she acted in the movie 'Andaaz' in the year 2003. This was a love triangle which also starred Akshya Kumar and Lara Dutta, and her role was recognized in the movie for her performance that added glamour quotient to the movie.

After that in the year 2004, she did a romantic comedy movie named 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' and this was of a great commercial success. In the same year she also did a thriller movie called 'Aitraaz' and here she also portrayed an antagonist claiming a lot of critical acclaim for the bold role she played.

In 2005, she got associated with two more important roles in projects named Bluff master and Waqt: The Race against Time. And, then 2006, she acted in the superhero movie named 'Krrish' and also in the action thriller movie, Don. And, both of these movies were declared to be a great success around the world. Thereafter in the year, she did movies like Big Brother, Drona, and Love story 2050.

And, again in 2008, she gave an amazing performance in the Hindi movie 'Fashion' which was based on the insecurities and hardships that comes up when you are in the fashion industry. And, the film was a super hit which gave a great boost to her career. This was followed by movies in her kitty like Dostana. In the year 2011, she garnered for herself great acclaim for her great role in the movie '7 Khoon Maaf'. Again in 2012, she did the role of an autistic girl and she got so much praise for her role in the movie and also the movie was a great commercial success.

In the year 2014, she did the biopic on the five times boxing champion Mary Kom. Her performance in the movie was highly praised and the movie also got very positive response critics as well as from the viewers.
