The east European country of Armenia celebrates International Women’s Day on March 8th, similar to many other countries in the world today. For working women in Armenia, International Women’s Day is an official holiday, where they can enjoy their day as they see fit having no obligation to work at all. On this day, other members of the family contribute to keep things in order inside the house, while the women can relax all they like.
While the vast majority of nations around the world observe International Women’s Day for just a single day, the trend is a bit different in Armenia. From the commencement of the International Women’s Day on March 8th to a month later on April 7th, the festivities carry on. During this Armenian Women’s month, women get a ton of special privileges from various institutions.
Shops for example, have a lot of attractive discounts during this period for women. Banks offer loans that have certain privileges for women as well. At their respective workplaces, women are given more attention and are treated to flowers almost every day.
Obviously, it is not all smooth sailing for women during this month. The priority for women in Armenia during the International Women’s Day and the ensuing month is to stand up for women’s rights and the fight for gender equality that is being witnessed in a lot of countries around the world. Many activities that make women’s voices heard are organized, and all Armenian women are encouraged to participate.
