Women’s Day in Azerbaijan

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th in Azerbaijan. The country has long been known to treat its women with the respect and dignity they deserve, and the celebration of Women’s Day is further proof of the fact that women hold a very important place in Azerbaijan. March 8th has been declared as an official holiday for women. On this day, most of women’s duties and responsibilities are taken care of by her family members. Women also are the centre of attention during this period, with them receiving flowers at their workplace on a regular basis.

In terms of politics, economics and culture, the participation of Azerbaijani women is incredibly high and major decisions are taken by keeping their opinion in mind.

International Women’s Day symbolizes the urgent need of the country to strengthen women’s health in the long run. Many efforts are being made to improve infrastructure and provide more facilities for taking care of women. Improved sporting facilities are also being developed in order to develop more and more women athletes in the country. Women’s Day also stands for the need to support women in other countries who are not enjoying as many privileges as Azerbaijani women are.
